Our Review of BPi Sports New Protein Powder Whey HD.
Well after few delays BPi Sports finally released their new look supplements and one of the most anticipated was they Whey HD protein powder. Whey HD is a pretty standard protein powder that can stack up with the big boys in quality , taste, but mixability was lacking a bit in my opinion, but we will get into that in the review itself.
Whey HD by BPi Sports is a 1 scoop serving size, two flavor(chocolate cookie & vanilla caramel) protein powder that gives you 25 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbs and just a gram of sugar per serving. Whey HD is also packed with 5.5 grams of BCAAs, making it an ideal protein powder for pre and post workout consumption.
Whey HD protein contains Muscle Building Whey Protein Blend (Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate), Glycerol Monostearate. It is a 1 scoop per serving but most people will use two scoops to get the 50 grams of protein, and it does digest pretty fast. I would recommend using a scoop and a half with 16 ounces of water or milk, reason being is that it will get clumpy if you do not use extra liquid with this protein, especially if you are using a cup to mix it.
I am a chocolate fan, so for me the chocolate cookie was a just what the doctor ordered. You can smell the chocolate when you open it, doesn’t leave a bad after taste for hours. Taste was as advertized for me, but I know it’s one of those personal preference situation.
This is where you have to tweak it to get the right consistency for you, like I mentioned above I used a scoop and a half with 16oz of fluid and it mixed great. If you do 6-8oz like the label says then you will be drinking chunks. I don’t think this takes anything away from the quality of the protein however, was not a big deal for me.
People know it’s hard to judge protein powders, and whey had is no different. I took it for about 4 weeks, 5 days a week, and I really liked the way it kept me full and digested quickly, where I very rarely felt bloated and didn’t have any major stomach discomfort or bathroom runs that you will experience with lesser quality protein powder. When I took whey hd post workout, I felt rejuvenated the next day, I wasn’t too sore and felt ready to go. I don’t think you can ask much more from a protein powder.
For a quality protein like this a 2lb tub will run you about 30$. I got mine from amazon and it was shipped quickly, no issues, free shipping. I felt it’s a fair price, of course it depends on your budget but it is on par with the market standard price for protein.
My opinion on whey hd protein powder is that it’s a quality protein that will be around for a while, it already has some great reviews online, and it is by a nutrition company that has a great reputation when it comes to producing quality supplements. If you are looking to try a new protein powder in 2014 then maybe Whey HD by BPi Sports is just what you need.
