Iron Whey is one of the first supplements released by the Muscle Pharm and their new Arnold series products. Iron Whey is a Ultra-Microfiltered Whey Protein, sort of like the Combat Powder already sold by muscle pharm. It is very lean with only 120 calories, 6g of carbs and 2.5g sugar, but it does pack in 22g of protein. Protein sources included in the blend are quoted below.
Protein Matrix (Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Hydrolisate), Amino Matrix [L-Glyine, L-Taurine, BCAAs (Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine) (3.1.2 Patent Pending Ratio), L-Glutamine], Natural and Artificial Flavors, Cocoa Powder, Glucose Polymers, Suspension Matrix (Xanthan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Guar Gum), Flax Seed Oil, Sea Salt, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Enzyme (Lactase).
At first I was going to hold off and wait to try it out, but I needed some protein to finish off the month and a 2lb serving option was ideal. When you go on the product page, the write up is kind of simple, just like you would expect from a marketer. “It’s the best source of protein, this is why it’s better then others. etc… you know how it goes”. Personally by looking at the Iron Whey label I see similarities with Combat Powder and that protein powder is one of my favorites.
I got the chocolate flavor, you can also get it in vanilla. It tastes great, not much to say about it, there’s no aftertaste , you can taste the chocolate. If you like chocolate you will love this shake.
When used in a cup I noticed a little bit of clumping and it would stick at the bottom sometimes, but in the blemder with milk it mixes great, you get a smooth texture, easy to take it down.
I read a few short reviews on Iron Whey and people were saying it’s better then Combat powder and what not, for me I can’t really tell the difference between the two in the effectiveness area. It keeps you full and the recovery next day is noticeable, and this product does have BCAAs added so I am not surprised. I feel it’s doing what a protein should, and will get another tub after I am done with my 2 pounder. If you are looking for some new protein powder to try out and if you are interested in the new Arnold Series then Iron Whey will do the job. You gotta do the heavy lifting of course but this will help haha.
It is on par with quality protein prices out there, I feel it’s a good buy at 48$ for 5lb tub.
